The Studio

Formed in 2006, Iocaine has a track record for innovation. Its first game, ThreadSpace Hyperbol, began as a student project but went on to critical acclaim, getting picked up for publication by Atari and receiving a Metacritic rating of 9.2 out of 10. In 2012, the company launched an ambitious new plan, becoming the first to successfully fund a multi-platform, transgaming, free-to-play app through Kickstarter called Steam Bandits. The team has since grown, but the company’s vision has remained the same: bring gamers closer with innovative games, and always treat the development team like family.

The People

Jason Fader – Creative Director and President

Description: My road down making games has placed me in several roles over the years, and I have come to learn something important from the journey. No matter the project, my team always feels like family, and it's the best feeling in the world. Sure, I want to make awesome games that push the industry forward, but at the end of the day, my team/family is what keeps me going. Team Iocaine is my family, and together we're going to change the game industry!

Games That Inspire Me: XCOM, Monkey Island, The Journeyman Project, Command & Conquer, Master of Orion, The Longest Journey, Privateer, Baldur's Gate, Sim City, and Starbound.

Esther Chen – Art Lead

Description: I'm a 3D artist with an interest in all forms of art. If I could live a thousand years, I'd spend most of that time trying every medium. If I wasn't dead by the end of that, I'd resort to taking over the world. I enjoy analyzing games and movies. If I was a part of a Snickers bar I'd be the peanuts, because peanuts are good for you.

Games That Inspire Me: As of late, hands-down Dota 2.

Alex Vrana – Level Designer

Description: I'm a level designer who also bosses around other level designers. In my free time I like to play games, read books, and generally subjugate my subordinates. I'm a huge fan of anything sci-fi and would probably turn myself into a cyborg if given the option.

Games That Inspire Me: Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite.

Susan Lau – Concept Artist

Description: I draw things. I like to play games and stay indoors; I'm really into sleeping and the internet. I spent way too long trying to figure out what to put here and I'm the type of person who tries to take a selfie with their cat.

Games That Inspire Me: Zelda, Pokemon, and Fallout.

Alexia Fedail – Narrative Designer/Editor

Description: Hello! I'm a narrative designer/editor on the Steam Bandits team. I make sure all text in the game and on the website is squeaky clean, and I've been known to write some of it myself. Outside of the project, I spend time playing games I should have played years ago and writing content for my Pathfinder campaign. I really, really like things that smell good. My spirit animal is a cat. Maybe. Probably. I have no idea.

Games That Inspire Me: There are so many games out there that inspire me, but in particular, I really love Limbo, Mass Effect 1-2, and Silent Hill 1-4.

And there's some more folks that were too shy to share their pictures.  Programmers are a shy bunch!
